Pocket PC Support

Ulterior Motive for the Pocket PC requires Pocket PC 2002 or later to run.

If you are having problems read the FAQs below. If this does not help you solve your problem, send an email to support@celeris.com with a complete description of your problem including the Pocket PC model, CPU, memory, media where Ulterior Motive and any Game Sets are installed, and Ulterior Motive version number.  To get information about your Pocket PC go to Settings/System/About. The Ulterior Motive version number can be found by starting Ulterior Motive and selecting About from the Main Menu.

Installation

What should I do if my registration id does not work?

Your Owner Name on your Today Screen must match the Owner Name in your receipt. Check your Owner Name by selecting Today off the Start Menu. Make sure it matches the Owner Name on  your receipt. To change the Owner Name select it with the stylus and enter a new name in the Name box. If you need a new Owner Name, contact support@celeris.com and send your new Owner Name and your purchase number.

What should I do if the Installer says "There is not enough space on the mobile device?

You must free some space on your Pocket PC or install to another destination media. You can install to alternate memory if you have it or other storage media like Smart Cards or Flash memory. The installation process must copy the file over first and that takes temporary space the size of the download. You can get more space by going to To free space you can remove other programs. You might want to look around with explorer for any "dead" stuff that was left around when programs were removed.

Why does my installation fail with a File Not Copied message?

You probably are out of storage. You need close to 5MB free storage for Ulterior Motive. The installer will copy the file first so you need an extra 4MB temporary space while installing. If installing into main memory the installer will borrow it from the program memory. When installing in alternate memory or a storage card it uses the same media for the temporary storage to you really need 9MB free to install.

Can I install Game Sets to a different destination media?

Yes! You can install Game Sets to any destination media. For the Game Set to be available that media must be installed.

I want to move Ulterior Motive or Game Sets to other media. Can I use explorer to copy the directories?

No! Never move installed directories for Ulterior Motive or Game Sets. Use the Remove Programs feature under Settings/System to remove Ulterior Motive or and Game Set you want to move then re-install them from your PC.

Operation

How do I pause the game, save games, get help, etc. during game play?

The MENU button will pause the game and bring up an In Game menu. The MENU button is the top button when the Pocket PC is held in landscape orientation (the orientation for play). You can select Help/Controls  from the Main Menu or In Game menu to get complete information on controls for Ulterior Motive. Note that only the GROUP, REVERSE and TURN controls have on screen icons. Other controls must be activated using buttons.

Why do puzzle load slowly?

Installations that use a destination media other than main memory may load slowly. Load speed depends on the type of media used.

I tried to load a saved game and got an error because I did not have the removable media with that Game Set inserted? I put in the media and it still does not work? Why?

The Game Set installations are only identified on program startup. Exit Ulterior Motive and restart it and you should have access to that Game Set.
