GS is down again - but there is an alternative

Tunngle is something similar to Hamachi, just better.
It does have a dedicated Virtual Pool 3 chat lobby.

Go to http://www.tunngle.net to download the software.
Install, reboot, start tunngle and set up an account.
You'll have to provide a valid email address, as they expect you to react to a conformation email.

After that's all done you can sign in.
You'll find Virtual Pool 3 on the last page of the Sport games.

To host a room, just go into that lobby, start VP3, choose LAN Play, and Host Game.. confirm everything and You have a room ready for someone to join.
To join a room also go into that lobby, start VP3, choose LAN Play and Join Game, confirm everything, leave the IP address blank, and you'll see a list of available rooms.

If it doesn't work.. well.. there is chat in Tunngle.

Well I downloaded it and installed it and tested it with Diablo and it works great much better than hamachi.

Thought it was just me not being able to connect to GSA, because this happened exactly yesterday when I installed my new bought router; funny coincidence. Nice one, I'll try Tunngle.

Later edit: Seems to work fine indeed. As an update to the initial post, in order to find the lobby quicker go here http://www.tunngle.net/#network-list and type Virtual Pool in the search bar (after having registered).

One issue i found is that i wasnt seeing certain people in the vp3 chat lobby altough i could see them in the main welcome lobby.
That was resolved by opening just the two ports required on my by hub,but them again im an expert so only took 2 minutes to fix/

Many will probably experience this. So here's the easy way to fix it: check the 'Use UPnP' box in Tunngle's System-Options, apply and restart Tunngle.

Well tuungle worked fine on the first run but crashes now whenever I start it with the error 'MISSING TEXT blah blah'.

I am running windows 7 32bit.

Hope they sort out GSA soon...

Overall this seems to work pretty well.
GS is still down, right now there are 10 players in VP3 on Tunngle.

UpDate on GSA..........under maintenance and should be fixed in the next day or so. Thats the most detailed info they'd give me. LOL

The lobby is back up you can set a room and it shows you cannot chat in the lobby it wont show

I just left to test to get back in and yes youve guessed it...its back down again.as of 18.41 gmt

As of tonight sunday night if you keep trying to join the vp3 lobby for at least 10 times you seem to end up being successful and will get into the chat lobby....still cant see your own chat but youll see others and you can set rooms and see them.

its 1.43 am monday morning keep trying to join gamespy youll get in eventually and chat has been fixed for now

12.18 PM and I cannot enter Gamespay. It stops at the sponsoring page and attempts to enter the chatserver from there.
After about one minute it shows a message that it cannot enter the chatserver.

Pretty much the same as all day..
If you manage to connect, GS works fine.
It can take 10 or more tries.

Currently 9 people on GS, usually it would be around 15 at this time on Mondays.
