Importing VP3 statistics into VP3DL?

Last week, I finally made the transition to VP3DL, but I'd like to retain my save games and statistics from VP3. I tried copying "players.sts", "vp_save.vpx", and "vpc data\" into my VP3DL folder, and although this appeared to work, whenever I start a match against an AI opponent, they continuously shoot the cue ball into the lower-right pocket. Is there a way to import my old VP3 data while still retaining the new AI players that behave properly in the new game?
