Can TDs do anything and with an apology it's undone?

Post by zwylle »

Hugh ran a tournament on Gamespy.
One of his buddies (Freeball) had to play Stub.
Stub couldnt join the tournament room Hugh/Freeball set.
When Stub asked if he (Stub) should set, Hugh didn't react.
After 13 minutes, Hugh forfeited Stub and advanced his buddy Freeball to the finals.
Stub got angry and used bad language.
He accused Hugh/Freeball for blocking his IP, so he couldn't join the tourney room.
Hugh banned Stub for that from his tournaments.
Meanwhile everyone in the lobby was all riled up.
Poolminator, a new TD, and organizer of the 8 ball league, banned Stub from that league, without giving him a reason.

Now a few days later, the thing was still going on and on in chat, Ladyhwk shows up.
Turns out: Hugh confesses to her.
Hugh (yes, the TD and Admin, [9balldotcom]) had kept Stub from entering the room, by setting his firewall to block Stub.
Hugh apologizes to Stub, Debi pressures Stub to accept the apology.. file closed.
Is this how it works when you are a TD? With a simple apology you can get away with murder.
What kind of signal does that set?

First off.........Hugh can't block ips from entering the room.

Second... I stated the rule (thats always been in effect) that if a player can't enter a set room HE MUST be given the chance to set the room himself. Stub wasn't. This is what I yelled at Hugh about and what I said he should apologize for.

Stub kept on and on and hugh offered a half hearted apology and I suggested that Stub accept it. He never did accept it which was his choice.
He was simply trying to make peace in the lobby.

It has to do with nothing more than not being offered the chance to set a room himself.

He was treated unfairly here but in trying to explain this to Stub. He wouldn't listen. End of story.

Whatever Poolminator does with his 8ball league has absolutely nothing to do with me. Its not my league.

Once again, if you're gonna report what happens, at least get the story straight.
May you never forget what is worth remembering or remember what is best forgotten.

You go ahead and make your mind up Zwylle...once you get the full facts( and beleive me if you put yourself up as a judge and jury on this your so mistaken)

Stub got banned for abuse towards me he got forfeited cos he was having problems with his pc and was given the due amouint of time allowed to join the game.

The banning of the IP issue was a figement of Stubs imagination to which someone in the lobby gave him that idea that banning his ip could be done against him.

The fact that I dont have a clue on this subject and that alone should let you know that my apology to stub was merely to kill the situation which as far as Im concerened is it.

You get all your facts right and find out the truth behind all the FACTS before you try and make some sort of statement for the masses on here.

So my advice is you should have maybe asked me for my opinion first before you publicly try to trash me.

The signal that is set here is that Zwylle got on her hobbyhorse again tried to ride all over me....and fell off again!!!!

I guess I also made up the screenshots, where you admit that you blocked him and where you apologize to him.

Very amusing, but nothing new.

And even your husband was there trying to explain to Stub that its not possible to do that. LOL Can you not read that Hugh was apologizing to settle things down?

You are funny.

If Hugh said the martians have taken over Seattle, Washington, you'd post that in here too? LOL

Like I said, it's nothing new.
Like it is nothing new that you guys see me or my hubby behind every one who makes up their mind.
My hubby was at work.

I assume you want me to publish something to show how to block IPs and keep people from joining rooms, so everyone can do it if "needed"?
You know it is possible and you know he did it.
And not only that he did it, he did it as a TD in one of his tourneys to advance his buddy. Disgusting!

Nice try to cover it up after he spit it out.

Theres no way to ban ips from a room. If there is, I don't know what it is.

I do know that the thing I was upset about is stub was not offered the chance to set the room himself. Plain and simple. Its in the rules and that rule was not followed.

Now, you wanna sit in there and "instigate" and make screenprints..... do it have fun. We all need a laugh.

ANd yes it was your husband....unless it was you. And I don't believe that because you wouldn't talk to me in whispers! LMAO

Sorry, no G|ZMO in this house.
I know you are trying to bring me in discredit, so people believe that you didn't do this. However, not even you can be so stupid to admit something like this if you haven't done it.

REASON

Post by Poolminator »

Please you don't know the whole story, so don't bother to tell me what to do with my league.

Your telling me how to be fair, and you do that to your husband, who stole my nick diablo666@m, and I never had contact with him before, at least not that I know of.

You two are just jelaous, and have grunge with other Tds, and trying to disrupt balance in lobby anytime you have chance to do it.

So quit talking about fairness, it sounds really wrong coming from you.

Now.....

Listen closely....

All games and the lobby go through GSA servers, which means that we don't have the ability to find out IPs. To prove this, go into the lobby, and then open a command prompt then type netstat -b

That will show you all IPs that you are connected to.. Normally you will only have 2 IPs for GSA (aphex.exe).

Admittedly, I would expect VP3 to make a direct connection when playing, but I think trying to find IPs while VP3 is running is beyond the ability of 99% of the people in the lobby.

Sooo, in conclusion, I believe that Stub is just feckin' being a pain in the ass as usual...

when i created room we played half way through 1 frame when hugh advised i had set room wrong. You never even mentioned i had set room wrong. I quit match and passed to you to re-create game. you froze/crashed or something. you left gamespy for approx 5 mins. when you did return you were asked to join room. You claimed you were trying but was only getting connection page. Im sure if you were blocked you would have got a different msg in and would not have been left hanging in game. You mentioned no such msg thus i come to the conclusion there was a problem with your pc. You were given the alotted 10 mins to sort yourself out. This turned into 13 mins extra time to allow you ample time to re-join but still no. If we were preventing you from joining the game why would hugh give you extra time? if it was anyone else once the 10 mins was up bye bye. you were given 3 mins extra. please think about it.

I listened closely:
To find out somebody's IP, go into a room with them, ALT TAB to your desktop, goto Start -> Run -> type CMD -> Hit enter -> type netstat ->hit enter... What you see then will give you the idea that it IS possible, and not even hard.
However, there are programs that do that easier for you, basically with one click. Some firewalls show who you are connected to. Some programs can even do it if someone 'hides' their IP. Every idiot can learn the few simple steps.. how to block I won't post here at this point, since I think it's not right.

Poolminator, I don't even know you. All I know is that you run a league.
I can assure you that none of the members of my family would care enough about you to get your nick. No diablo666@m in this house either, but that doesn't take a rocket scientist. It must be the same guy who has G|ZMO's.. lol..

But back to the original topic..
Do you think it is right that a TD lets somebody play in their tournament, then sabotages them and gets away with it?
I mean, if you take away the part that you don't like Stub. (I don't like him either)
Do you think a TD can do whatever they want in their tourneys?
Just wondering.
We had this discussion before, and I see the point that if you volunteer your time, you can let play whoever you want to let play. But if you let them play, aren't you supposed to give them fair treatment?

And he was called to task for it.....in the lobby in front of everyone. What more do you want. Its a game. He followed the basic procedures. Stub booted out.......he was given time to reconnect and apparently couldn't when he returned.

He was not offered the chance the set the room himself and he should have been. A mistake was made and the td was called on it and the rule was STATED to everyone in the lobby how it should be done so that it doesn't happen again.

Again, what more do you want? Blood? lol Stub was advised as to how it should have been handled and apologized to. It if was a big event, they should probably go back and redo it......but it wasn't.

The Td's are human. Was it done on purpose or accident? I don't know and I'm not going to assume anything. Tds have been advised how to handle this in the future.

Now....... your point again?

Hmmm, so... you can figure out my IP from the list of active connections I have then????
Here we go.. You try, then let me know what my IP is...
