Re: 1995 version Virtual Pool

He's talking about VP, not VP3.

I have no idea how to make it work.

Re: Offline mode question

They're loch lommond and monte carlo - used for snooker and cushion billiards respectively. They should be available in quick play mode.

I also have this problem, but I have been to shy too mention it. It is, however, even worse for me because i dont see the pockets on either side.

Yes, people would cheat it easily. Only option I think would be to add a randomly imperfect stroke for all shots, and increase the imperfection close to rails. Nap effect could also help against long slow rolls on the snooker table.

Ok so we all agree on this: Long shots are a whole lot easier in Vp Snooker than in real snooker. Alin thinks: The long shots in snooker alter how the game is played to such a big degree that, to real life players, it is not worth playing because it is too far from the real thing. V-Snooker fanboys ...

You are right, but you underestimate the value of position in snooker a bit too much. Take a virtual player with potting skills and positional skills like o'sullivan IRL, and put him against the best snooker player in vp3. I think the virtual o'sullivan would beat the best virtual players around, ev...

I understand your point, and I agree as well. But positional play is still a valuable asset in vp3 snooker. Take 2 players who pot equally good, but have different positional skills. The better positional player will always win in the long run. As for 9-ball, I think people play it cause it's fast a...

Nice post, Alinville. I'd just like to say that snooker can be played realistically too - it's up to the player. But of course, in competitive play, you will do the safe long rolls over the tough positional shots any time. But in single player or practice mode - or if you dont care about winning - s...

Yes the minor problem is that the TD would have to keep an eye on matches containing AI players to make sure of the result, and to make sure the human player doesn't press ctrl-t whenever he's in a tricky spot.

AI Tournament players

How about adding some AI players to the tournament system.

They can be entered into tournaments that don't have enough players in them by the TDs. They would show on rankings same as all human players.
Could be a nice alternative to cancelling a tourney cause it only has 6 or so human players.

MAN VS MACHINE

In what can only be described as a thrilling match, the Human Team, composed of Alinville and Albinario, defeated AI-team's Curly and Tall Steve with a score of 8-5. The AI team looked strong at the beginning of the match, with Curly making some fantastic shots on his 2 rack run to give the machines...

I think it's a tough one to predict. Overall, I'd say the bottom half has tougher players than the top half. If I were to speculate on who makes it to the semis... I think grimlock has a good chance on the top quarter of the fixtures, although xrayspex beat wit impressively (and wit was in semis las...
