My shots keep stuttering with both vertical sync settings.

Sounds weird. One thing you could check is that there is a log file in vp3 main folder called message.txt. You have to designate manually, no auto-nomination in vp3. But you can do the designation more easy way by the number keys on your keyboard (2-7, 2 being the yellow and 7 being the black.the other numbers between you can figure out yourself:) )

Or "-" on some keyb layouts. Search for chat from settings -> keyboard mapping.

Or alternatively just hit lots of keys at once and find out the one which works.
