Re: VP3DL "not installed properly" message
AlinVille, THANKS for the reply. That worked perfectly--well almost anyway. It did indeed keep my scores and career stuff intact. But surprisingly--or maybe not so surprisingly--other settings were not saved. I guess things like my selected video mode and such are in the registry. But getting those ...

VP3DL "not installed properly" message
A couple days ago, I installed VP3DL and it has been working perfectly for several days. I even tried a few games at GameSpy with no problems. I then decided to go ahead and uninstall my old version of VP3. The two versions were located in totally different folders and even in the Registry, all the ...

Re: D3D Initialization Failed--Couldn't find a legal video mode
Finally gave up on getting old version to work.
Installed VP3DL and worked perfectly on first try.
Thanks guys for all the suggestions!
Maybe I will see you at GameSpy.

Re: D3D Initialization Failed--Couldn't find a legal video mode
Well that did not work either.
I tried setting my resolution to 800X600.
I also tried changing Full Screen X and Y in the Registry to other possible settings.
No joy! :(
I guess my only remaining option is to get the newer VP3DL and hope that works.

Re: D3D Initialization Failed--Couldn't find a legal video mode
Albinario, thanks for the response. Unfortunately, changing my desktop resolution was one of the first things I tried. I set it to 1024X768 but the same message popped up. I think my next option is polomint77's suggestion to edit the Full Screen X and Y in the Registry. Will let you know how that go...

Re: D3D Initialization Failed--Couldn't find a legal video mode
Ok, polomint77, I reversed your suggestions but neither worked. I began with the Registry. I found 2 locations for "Full Screen" under Celeris VP3 keys. I changed the Hex values of each from "0000 01 00 00 00" to "0000 00 00 00 00". When I ran VP3, I got a new message b...

Re: D3D Initialization Failed--Couldn't find a legal video mode
Thanks guys for all the suggestions! They sound very workable so I hope they work. As for 9balldotcom, thanks for the invite--I think :) Haven't been here before because I did not even consider a place like this existed! But then, I guess I should have known. After all, EVERYTHING seems to be on the...

D3D Initialization Failed--Couldn't find a legal video mode
I have been using VP3 since at least 2001-2. I have been able to keep it working successfully through multiple computer, monitor, and operating upgrades and continue to enjoy it immensely! I was even more amazed to see Celeris was still running a forum with active players! To say the least, that is ...
