If you're on Facebook, head over to the Virtual Pool 4 page - that'll give you a warmer feeling that things are progressing nicely!

Re: How do I get VP3 codec videos to play on quicktime?

Doh! You're probably right - I use screen magnification software, so missed the link. Did wonder why that BIG picture was there, though!

Cunning - shame the Celeris forums can't detect such skullduggery!

Can the mods delete this thread?

Re: How do I get VP3 codec videos to play on quicktime?

Have you tried downloading VLC Media Player? It has a lot of codecs and plays almost anything so may install something that triggers the VP3 videos to play. This is irrespective of whether or not you're confusing the ".vp3" video format with the videos with Virtual Pool 3 (a.k.a VP3) the v...

Re: I'm sorry, but I just cannot figure this out.

OK, on my W7 PC the VP3 save files are stored in the following location: C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Celeris There's a "vp_save.vpx" file and also a sub-folder called "vpc data". As it seems to be an issue specific to your PC, I'd check...

Re: I'm sorry, but I just cannot figure this out.

I run Windows 7 (64-bit) and don't run VP3 in compatibility mode. I assume you are running the VP3 DL (download) version and not the old retail version (which I don't think works with newer versions of Windows). You could try re-installing but when running the setup file right-click and choose Run a...

It should save when you put your career on hold and even if you exit the game unexpectedly (as I recall). Which version of VP3 are you using and which version of Windows are you running?

Re: Uk 8ball Rules

I agree... For the mobile version, I proposed a Custom Settings screen for 8 Ball, for example: Ball Set [UK] [US] After Foul Two Visits: [Yes] [If First Shot Missed Only] [No] Free Table on First Shot: [Yes] [No] Cue Ball Placement After Scratch: [Behind Head String] [In D] [Ball In Hand] Must Play...

So you're not a kid. I'd suggest, therefore, that senility is setting in. I won't mention your spelling or grammar again as your last post does a great job of demonstrating its continuing failings. Some constructive, rational criticism of VP3 may be worth putting forward but, even then, a 10 year ol...

Dumbfounded is correct in saying the balls leave the table (i.e. go on to the virtual floor!) too much. He is also correct in that the AI isn't human-like in some aspects - but it is better than many, many pool/snooker games I've played (and I've played dozens since about 1982!). The accidental shoo...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris

Note my point on the compatibility thing was make sure you uncheck ALL the boxes on the Compatibility tab after you had tried all the modes/settings as VP3 doesn't need to run in compatibility mode in Windows 7. It would help if someone from Celeris explained how exactly VP3 determines which resolut...

Re: New Computer -- dont get new serial from Celeris

1. I'd give DirectX 9.0c a go, personally. 2. Hardware Acceleration should be enabled. 3. Ensure ALL the check boxes under the desktop shortcut's Properties' Compatibility tab are unchecked (note there's a 640x480 option there). 4. I've no shield and I am running VP3 on Windows 7 at a high resolutio...

Well, a stroke of luck means I've got a Samsung Galaxy S now (running Android 2.2.1) and Mrs Bagpuss has my Wave. Bigger screen, same powerful hardware BUT now Android. Pool Break Demo will keep me amused until Virtual Pool Mobile hits the market. If VPM improves on Pool Break, then I'll be delighte...

Re: [problem] No sound when striking the cueball

Yep, Realtek HD, Windows 7 (Home Premium) 64-bit SP1 here and all is well sound-wise in VP3 (for my ears, at least!). As I implied in my previous reply, DirectSound3D (ditched for DirectX 10) offered the audio hardware acceleration hence why DirectX10/11 OS's (Vista & 7) don't have it. You will ...

Re: [problem] No sound when striking the cueball

Here's how I understand it... Microsoft ditched DirectSound3D from DirectX 10 onwards, which caused a little grief with some elderly games. Creative's software/drivers make an effort to emulated DirectSound3D commands but some cards/chipsets don't. Whether this is the issue or not, I'd recommend try...

Re: Virtual Pool Mobile for Android smartphones

Got a Samsung Galaxy S now after Mrs Bagpuss bought one and swapped it for my Wave. So bring on the 'droid version! As for mobile games, these days high res screens, decent mobile GPUs and operating systems means that they at least rival the kind of simulation VP3 offered at the time of its release ...

Go on, humour me...

Hi, I know we've been here before but as Bada handsets now reach 5m sales (which I think represents a decent enough market), please take a considered look into porting VPM to it. The reason I think it's worth another look are that the Samsung Wave (and I assume the Wave II) use the PowerVR 540 GPU w...

Re: Virtual Pool Mobile for Android smartphones

Point taken but I still think you'd cover development costs easily, especially given that the core code routines won't change much. And I'm sure the Dell X51v wasn't selling at 250,000 units a day when you ported VP3 Mobile to it. Probably unintentional but I read your replies to my question and the...

Re: Virtual Pool Mobile for Android smartphones

Am I being optimistic in hoping for a Bada version too? Allegedly, it's quite straight-forward to port apps to Bada, it being based on C++ and all.

VP Mobile would look gorgeous on my Samsung Wave's Super AMOLED screen and the hardware will make it run like a dream...

Re: Which Country Is Better At VP3; UK or USA?

The Americans believe they are the best and aren't afraid to say it. The Brits are the best but don't mention it for fear of upsetting someone. I do often wonder why us Limeys do well despite the lower profile of pool in the UK and the relatively small population. A sound grounding in snooker is obv...

Install drivers downloaded at (4) above either after Found New Hardware wizard has done its thing or during that process using Have Disk...
